Guidelines for Case Presentation – Surgical Mastercut Conference
Presentation Guidelines
Select a challenging surgical case where the management or outcome was uncertain or posed a dilemma. Avoid straightforward cases with a clear solution.
Cases may highlight
- Pre-operative decision-making challenges
- Intra-operative difficulties
- Post-operative dilemmas
-
- Maintain patient anonymity at all times (no names, initials, or identifiable details).
- Provide a clear description of the difficult aspects of the case – whether it was a single critical decision point or an overall uncertainty in deciding the way forward.
- Background details (Title, Demographics, Diagnosis, Investigations) should be included only as essential context to understand the dilemma and the questions.
- Use images, videos, or intra-operative clips wherever relevant to illustrate the surgical challenge.
- Frame 2–3 focused questions directly related to the dilemma, aimed at inviting expert input.
- The goal is not to showcase success, but to encourage interactive learning through expert discussion and insights.
- Time Limit: 3 minutes for presentation, followed by discussion with the expert panel.
